Christus Victor Lutheran Church has an opening for an Office Administrator and Events Coordinator.  Ideally, we would have 1 person work 20-25 hours/week to fill this position.  We are open to hiring two people, each at 10-12 hours/week, one as an office Administrator and one as an Event Coordinator.

IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate has strengths in organizational skills, friendly customer service demeanor, typing and computer software / database proficiency, ability to prioritize and self-manage time, good communicator and coordinator of others (volunteers).  Any additional skills in marketing design, outreach, or graphic arts would be exceptional.  Availability Sunday mornings to help with communication, relationship building, and attend meetings/activities after worship would also be exceptional but certainly not necessary.

Job Description


  • Reports to:      The Pastor
  • Status:             Part Time, 25 hours per week
  • FLSA:               Non-Exempt (minimum wage & overtime laws apply)

 

Essential Functions:

  •          Prepare weekly paper & electronic bulletins for Sunday morning services & email reminders to Sunday morning volunteers
  •          Support ministry teams and other CVLC leaders so congregational events are well organized
  •          Communicate congregational events to the congregation and larger community at least 3 months in advance to outside media, newspapers, magazines, etc.  (May contribute to design of marketing materials.)
  •          Prepare & distribute weekly & monthly newsletters; update website, & Social Media platforms
  •          Answer the phone, check messages, and greet people who come into the office
  •          Track church statistics like attendance and membership status in our databases
  •          Collect & Sort mail
  •          Update church bulletin boards & outdoor electronic sign
  •          Maintain Office Files both paper and electronic
  •          Order Office Supplies, including copier maintenance

 

Other Responsibilities:

  •          Attend and assist with special programs, including planning meetings, as needed
  •          Help with food distribution or emergency requests, referrals
  •          Occasional Congregational Mailings
  •          Proofread all printed and electronic documents for spelling, grammatical, production, and format errors
  •          Learn new skills (e.g. software) as technology & this positions evolves

2024 Goals:  learn, learn, learn …

  • 1.      Learn from the previous Church Administrator’s notes: InDesign, Breeze, Google Groups and other apps and online subscriptions so that you can produce the weekly bulletin, weekly Blast and Venture, church directory, and distribute cleanly
  • 2.      Learn the organizational structure (who does what, how do things get done), begin learning names and personalities of leaders
  • 3.      Learn Lutheran Liturgy (this will really help you know what you are doing when you are putting the bulletin together each week)
