Lent at Christus Victor - A time to come together in worship and in silence as we walk with our Savior through the last days and hours of his life, give thanks for His incredible sacrifice and learn of His wondrous love for us.
A Time of Reflection... Ash Wednesday - February 25thNoon & 7:00 p.m.This day marks the beginning of a forty day period of preparation for Easter. It is the beginning of a journey that guides us to a renewed commitment to living with God's love. It is also a time of learning so we may grow in understanding of the incredible gift given to us in Baptism and our relationship with God as the Body of Christ. Our noon Spoken Service will bring to life the word of God as we recall our weaknesses and begin the process of renewal through Lent. It will include the imposition of ashes. Our evening Ash Wednesday service at 7:00 p.m. will be a celebration of Christ's presence in the Eucharist and include the imposition of ashes. In this special service we are reminded of the frailty of our lives, our human weakness, the wonders of God's forgiveness and the joy of Christ's presence. The ashes will be available for those who wish to take advantage of this physical reminder of our human weakness. Lent Wednesday NightsLenten Agape Dinners6:00 p.m. - Wednesday nights during Lent this year will take us back to the form of worship that was the norm during New Testament times: the Agape meal. We will celebrate as those in the early church did, by gathering together to worship and to share a meal as brothers and sisters in Christ. At 6:00 p.m. we will gather in the Fellowship hall for a simple liturgy of responsive reading, prayer, and scripture reading which will lead us to a simple meal (i.e. soup, salad, and bread) provided by the various Agape groups. While we eat, members of the Church Council will lead a discussion of a number of their favorite parables. The evening worship will then close with responsive reading and prayers. What better way to learn and grow together than to share this time with one another. Please join us as we share our faith, our fellowship, and our food, celebrating our lives as the church by remembering the earliest and most simple form of worship, the communal meal.
